Description of Juno Composites Ltd

Juno Composites Ltd is an ISO 9001-certified specialist in the design, manufacture, and validation of advanced fibre-reinforced composite materials and components. The company develops lightweight, sustainable, and high-performance composite solutions using proprietary manufacturing technologies (AlphaFAB and BetaFAB) and a range of fibre and polymer systems, including bio-based matrices, and fire-retardant resins. Juno offers end-to-end capability—from tailored material design through to semi-finished and CNC-machined products—for sectors such as aerospace, construction, e-mobility, marine, and medical. As an active partner in European R&D projects, including VIBES, CARBOWAVE, and LignoFun, Juno contributes expertise in liquid moulding process development, material validation, and sustainable composite innovation.

What is your task in the project LIGNOFUN?

Juno Composites’ task is to validate and demonstrate the suitability of the LignoFun bio-derived, fire-retardant resin systems in fibre-reinforced composite materials.
We conduct manufacturing trials using resin infusion and VaRTM processes, perform mechanical and physical testing, and oversee fire testing to benchmark performance against commercial state-of-the-art resins.
Our contribution provides the practical, end-product validation that links laboratory resin development to real composite manufacturing and demonstrator applications.

Role, Relevance & Interfaces in the Project

Our key challenge is to achieve equivalent or improved fire performance and mechanical properties compared to fossil-based systems while maintaining industrial processability and ensuring that the novel LignoFun resin can be successfully used within current state-of-the-art liquid moulding techniques.
This task is vital because it demonstrates the commercial feasibility and market readiness of LignoFun resins in real composite applications—turning sustainable chemistry into usable end products. We collaborate closely with resin developers, materials scientists, industrial end-users, and fire-regulatory stakeholders in sectors such as construction, e-mobility, marine, and aircraft interiors to ensure that the materials meet performance, compliance, and sustainability targets.
