Description of HELIA-D

Helia-D is the best-known Hungarian facecare cosmetic brand. The R&D and production both take place in Hungary, the factory is in Veszprém and the headquarter is in Budapest. The brand is more than 40 years old and has undergone complete renewal in recent years. Nowadays Helia-D is not only famous for its anti-aging products but also offers a facecare routine for young people and is constantly expanding its product range. Helia-D regularly researches the shopping and facecare habits of Hungarian women through market research. We believe in the marriage of tradition and innovation: we are combining traditional wisdom with modern science and creating clean, natural formulas, avoiding parabens, artificial colorants and mineral oil.

What is your task in the project LIGNOFUN?

Our task is validation and TRL progression for depolymerized streams (lignin-based raw materials) into high-value demonstration prototypes (cosmetics, personal care products), showcasing their potential for superior performance and economic viability. We will develop prototype cosmetic products using LMW lignin raw materials from project partner CELIGNIS.

Role, Relevance & Interfaces in the Project

Our challenge in the project is producing homogeneous emulsion with lignin based raw materials and taking advantage of its positive qualities (such as UV absorption and antioxidant property). Thereby the developed raw material can be tested and validated in end-use products.
